NBC Gives The Greenlight
It was confirmed that NBC has picked up the new spin-off series of "The Blacklist," which will be titled "The Blacklist: Redemption." The spin-off will star Famke Janssen, which means that fans can expect a strong female character. Fans have been waiting to hear about the upcoming spin-off since the news of it arose last year since it will bring intriguing characters back to the small screens.

Jennifer Salke, NBC President, told Variety, "The only thing I can say is where talking about planting some characters in the show, much in the way that we do in the world of the 'Chicago' shows. They could be explored as a potential spin-off, but we have in no way committed to a spin-off series."
Janssen's Character
Named Susan "Scottie" Halsted, Janssen's character was introduced in a previous episode of "The Blacklist" Season 3 as the mother of Ryan Eggold's character. This means that Scottie's son, Tom Keen, could be a part of the upcoming spin-off as well. Aside from Keen, Edi Gathegi, who plays the role of Mr. Solomon, will also take part in "The Blacklist: Redemption."
Meanwhile, a fresh new face will also join the cast. It was announced that Tawny Cypress will be portraying a major role in the new spin-off.
Connection to 'Blacklist' Season 4
Even though there has yet to be a release date for "The Blacklist: Redemption," fans are wondering just how it will connect to the upcoming season of "The Blacklist." The happenings in the spin-off will depend on the outcome of season 4. However, there is still a lot of questions regarding Liz's fate in the new season. Jon Bokenkamp stated, "All of this came about because of Liz being exposed to the world while she was on the run.
"Alexander Kirk had no idea where she was, if she was alive, where she was, but once that name was spoken to the world, Masha Rostova, he knew. None of this would have been possible had Liz not been exposed as Masha while being a fugitive on the run," Bokenkamp added.
"The Blacklist" Season 4 is expected to air on NBC this fall. Meanwhile, no release date has been announced for the spin- off series.
