'The Blacklist' Season 3 News: Expect A 'Different Feel,' Says Producers
Season 3 of the procedural drama series, "The Blacklist," will be premiering on October 1 and will be bringing back Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) and Liz Keen (Megan Boone) to the NBC network as the team who goes after "blacklisters" or the most dangerous criminals in the world. According to a report in TV Line, the show's executive producer promised that both Red and Liz will still be going after the bad guys in the black list, but they may be going about it differently in the next season.
Executive John Eisendrath said that the upcoming season "will have a different feel," mainly because of what transpired during the season finale of Season 2. Fans remember that Liz is no longer with the FBI since she shot Attorney General Tom Connolly and is now on the run with Red. She herself is now part of FBI's Most Wanted list and in the coming season, one of her former colleagues, Agent Ressler, will be going after her.
Season 3, according to the report, will also show a glimpse of the other characters in the task force within the FBI and some of their back stories. Eisendarth cited the conflict between the different members of the task force and he said, "Ressler is a dogged, by-the-book guy who is going to bring [Liz and Red] in. At the same time, we have found opportunities for Red and Liz to convince the FBI that one of the best ways to keep track of them is to assist them in going after certain blacklisters, who Red and Liz are going after in order to exonerate Liz."
Jon Bokemkamp, the creator of the series, however, told TV Line that Season 3 will not be "a complete reinvention" of the show, but rather a change of pace with "a great shot of adrenaline."
In as far as the relationship between Red and Liz is concerned, the report said that the next season will only be giving clues or hints which will help a little in unravelling the mystery behind the relationship between the show's main characters, but fans should not expect anything major to be revealed. According to Bokenkamp, all the hints and tidbits is going towards "an endgame" for the show.
In the meantime, a new trailer for the show also came out recently, showing Liz sporting blonde hair in her attempt to disguise herself. The trailer also shows the pair still continuing their hunt for blacklisters despite their fugitive status.
