'The Blacklist' season 3 plot news: Liz goes blonde

With the return of "The Blacklist" scheduled this week, more news have been revealed about what fans can expect from season 3.

It was reported that the upcoming season will feature Liz looking different. It was seen in the season 3 promo that the character will be sporting blonde hair, which is also a surprise to Red. Since the season ended with Liz listed as a fugitive, it can be assumed that the new look is to disguise herself.

The previous season left off with Liz fleeing after shooting Attorney General Tom Connolly, which put her on FBI's Most Wanted List. With her and Red listed as fugitives, the season is expected to explore their new relationship.

According to TV Line, the first episode of the season, titled "Troll Hunter," will illustrate the change in dynamics regarding Red and Liz's relationship. It was stated by series creator Jon Bokenkamp that the two character will work well together and complement each other.

As stated by Zap2it, Megan Boone, who portrays the role of Liz, shared some information about what to expect in their relationship for the episodes to come. She said, "I think people see how much Redd loves her, and it is a confusing kind of love. I think that will have to be answered. How do you love someone that deeply — no matter what the circumstances, but especially when the circumstances are mysterious?"

She added that though her character does feel love for Red, it is not to be portrayed in a romantic way.
With that, a new villain is also expected to enter the series. It was reported by Entertainment Weekley that "X-Men: First Class" star Edi Gathegi will be joining the cast in season 3. He will be taking on the role of Mr. Solomon, who was described as "a monster in gentleman's clothing."

The Blacklist is set to air on Sept. 24.
