'The Blacklist' season 3 to premiere on October 1
"The Blacklist" is due to return soon for its third season and there will be new twists in the show's next installment.
In The Blacklist season 3, the FBI's list of most-wanted criminals will now include Liz (Meghan Boone) and Red (James Spader). This event will come after Liz murdered Tom Connolly (Reed Birney) in the previous season, according to Realty Today.
The show's executive producer John Eisendrath said the third installment of The Blacklist will present a "different feel" for the viewers. He attributes the change to the fact that the characters who used to work with Red and Liz are the ones who now have to track them down, the International Business Times (IBT) reports.
"That's going to cause a lot of tension between those on the task force, each of whom has a very specific point of view about the value of [arresting Liz]," the IBT quotes Eisendrath. "…We have found opportunities for Red and Liz to convince the FBI that one of the best ways to keep track of them is to assist them in going after certain blacklisters, who Red and Liz are going after in order to exonerate Liz."
Another executive producer, Jon Bokenkamp, revealed that Liz and Red will first attempt to escape from Washington, D.C. Liz will disguise herself, but authorities will still know about her new look. While photos of her blonde self will circulate, Liz will realize that she looks a lot like her mother, the report details.
In season 2, Liz's real name was revealed to be Masha Rostova, a girl who killed her abusive father. Her mother, Katarina Rostova, had some connection with Red. Because of this, there were speculations that Red might be Liz's real father.
Bokenkamp said Liz will struggle to come to terms with her past and her identity as a Russian. She will also try to reject her "criminal instinct" and deal with difficult situations. Season 3 will feature her life as a fugitive and her connections with Red, the report adds.
Meanwhile, fans will see new faces in The Blacklist season 3. Edi Gathegi of "X-Men: First Class" will reportedly play the role of Mr. Solomon, a new villain that Liz and Red will meet.
The Blacklist season 3 will premiere on Oct. 1 on NBC.
