'The Blacklist' Season 5 Spoilers: Liz Begins A New Life As Red Reclaims His Criminal Empire
Liz Keen (Megan Boone) will start a new life in the midseason premiere of "The Blacklist" season 5.
After the former FBI agent lost her husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) in the midseason finale, Liz was left heartbroken. This will pave the way for her to become a new person.
"When we come back, we find Elizabeth Keen in a very strange and unexpected place — she's no longer a wife, no longer working for the FBI task force, she's essentially living an entirely new life," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
According to the synopsis for the winter premiere episode called "Ruin," Liz will leave her old life and try to find a fresh start in a new place where nobody knows anything about her. However, an unexpected threat will soon head her way. This will force her to use her remaining physical strength despite her injuries and her grief due to her husband's death to engage in a vicious fight to survive.
Spoilers also claimed that Red (James Spader) is reenergized and ready to rebuild his criminal empire. He is reportedly inspired to start his new empire with the help of Liz. Since Liz finally confirmed that Red is her biological father, she will be torn between her duty as a former FBI agent and the lure to commit some crime.
Red is also expected to be back in his element and reclaim his throne as the "Concierge of Crime" in the second half of season 5.
Bokenkamp also revealed that unlike the other episodes from the crime procedural drama, the upcoming premiere will not feature any Blacklister. "Instead, it's like its own little movie and unlike anything we've done in the series thus far," he also said.
The winter premiere of "The Blacklist" season 5 will be aired by NBC on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m. EDT.
