'The Crown' Season 2 Cast News, Spoilers: Prince Philip's Affairs To Be Explored?

The upcoming second season of Netflix's critically acclaimed original series "The Crown" will continue the story of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy). However, it will also shine some light on Prince Philip's (Matt Smith) rumored affairs.

According to the Daily Mail, this much was hinted by creator Peter Morgan. "Doesn't everyone in Britain know he had an affair?" Morgan, who also writes and executive produces the show, asked.

Prince Philip has been thought to have had a number of affairs during his marriage to Queen Elizabeth II. However, these accusations were always denied. That has not stopped the public from hypothesizing his connection to a number of women, though. This includes British actress Pat Kirkwood and TV personality Katie Boyle, reports the publication.

Morgan did not reveal anything else about the upcoming season and did not even confirm that the affairs would be explored. However, he did say that the next cycle of "The Crown" will span 1956 to 1964.

"The Crown" has already added several names to the cast list for season 2. In early February, Deadline reported that Michael C. Hall and Jodi Balfour were tapped to play John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jackie. According to the publication, the series will also cover the two real-life figures' lives behind closed doors.

Jackie is described to be a woman "whose charming exterior of confidence and glamour hides a shy woman who loathes public life." On the other hand, JFK feels outshined by his wife's accomplishments and popularity.

Joining them is Matthew Goode, who is set to portray Lord Snowdon, reports RadioTimes. For those who are unaware, Lord Snowdon, whose real name is Antony Armstrong-Jones, was the photographer who was married to Princess Margaret from 1960 to 1978.

A release date for the award-winning series has yet to be announced. However, the Netflix series is already in production for its second season.
