'The Defenders': How to Crack the Mystery Behind Intriguing Teaser Trailer
Another Marvel-based superhero team is all set to assemble later this year as Netflix gears up to bring together its four-man crime fighting crew in "The Defenders." But figuring out its release date poses a challenge that eager fans will have to work hard for.
The ragtag crew of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones) have recently been caught on tape inside the Midland Circle Security Elevator B in a teaser trailer released by Netflix.
At first glance, the video, which lasts for merely fifteen seconds, does not make much sense. There's just the four would-be members of the Defenders looking the worse for wear, with Luke even sporting bullet holes on his hoodie. Then, Jessica spots the security camera aimed at them and does not waste a second in taking it down, bringing the brief video to an abrupt end.
The trailer actually reveals the much-anticipated crossover series' official release date, although the actual date itself is not visible in the video. The significance of this tricky trailer lies in the IP address on the upper left corner of the screen: 23.253.120.81. Typing these numbers into a browser's address box will bring up the page of the New York Bulletin, which is the publication that "Daredevil's" Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) is now working for.
At the very bottom of the page, on the Copyright line is the message, "Watch "Marvel's The Defenders" All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18."
"The Defenders" will reportedly pick up two months after the end of "Daredevil" season 2 and will be pitting the four-man vigilante crew against a common enemy named The Hand.
Meanwhile, Underground Toys will be giving away one of four "The Defenders" Funko Pops via Two Geeky Guys in a raffle that will last until Sunday, April 30 at 7:59 p.m. EDT. More details about the competition and how to join can be found on Spoiler TV.
