'The Division' Gameplay, News: Ubisoft Announces Update 1.6 and 'Last Stand' Get Same Release Date
As announced by game developer Ubisoft this week, "Tom Clancy's The Division's" game update 1.6 and downloadable content "Expansion III: Last Stand" will get the same launch schedule.
Arriving on Tuesday, Feb. 28, Ubisoft promised that patch 1.6 "will bring the regular balancing tweaks and changes" and a good lineup of new gameplay content.
Once the patch goes live, Dark Zones 7, 8 and 9 will be playable. While Ubisoft refused to bare many details about the map additions, the game developer promised that opening the gates found in the northern part of the area will expand the Dark Zone up to double its current size.
Apart from opening the gates to Dark Zones 7 to 9, Ubisoft has also expanded the northern parts of Dark Zone 6 and Midtown East while adding new Landmarks at the same time. These new Landmarks come with a number of enemies and additional sets of loot to be collected along the way. Update 1.6 will also speed up the travel time from one Dark Zone checkpoint to another.
New Contamination Events have also been added to the Dark Zone. Ubisoft further explained that elite Cleaners will spawn in the Dark Zone underground every hour since contamination in those areas are at such high levels that one's virus filter may be useless.
Gameplays in Times Square, WarrenGate Power Plant and Napalm Production Plant have all been given a Legendary difficulty mode considered as "the most challenging content in the game and is intended for organized groups." Players who will get through this difficulty mode are entitled to exclusive prizes like vanity items that are not available in other parts of the game.
On the other hand, Ubisoft introduces "a new way to fight" with the "Expansion III: Last Stand." The said expansion is a completely separate game mode from Dark Zone.
"Expansion III: Last Stand" is reportedly going to be the last DLC game mode for "The Division." Basically, this will let players get an 8v8 PvP game. Ubisoft explained that matchmaking in "Expansion III: Last Stand" considers more factors other than the current Gear Score of every player. The developer said that one main aspect the servers will consider in creating teams is every player's performance in recent games.
Game update 1.6 and "Expansion III: Last Stand" are both going to be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Feb. 28.
