'The Elder Scrolls Online' News: Devs Detail New 'Battlegrounds' Mode Included in Upcoming 'Morrowind' Expansion

'Battlegrounds' mode will feature three different game types 'Elder Scrolls Online' players can try out

The new "Morrowind" expansion coming to "The Elder Scrolls Online" will introduce several new elements, including a new PvP mode.

For the expansion, developers have looked to create a new PvP mode that is more focused on allowing players to take part in quick but still action-filled battles as opposed to longer combat engagements.

In a new post on the game's official website, developers also shared how things may get chaotic in "Battlegrounds," as players will group themselves into three teams of four, without needing to take alliances into account.

Players can look for "Battlegrounds" matches either on their own or together with some teammates already, but they still need to at least be at level 10 in order to participate in the fights.

Once players have handled all that, they can move forward to deciding which "Battlegrounds" game type they want to experience.

The first game type is Capture the Flag, an option likely familiar to gamers of all ages, and it involves careful strategizing so that players can successfully manage to claim the target object without giving up their own.

Next up is Domination, and it is similar to Capture the Flag in some ways. In Domination, the goal is to capture as many points of the map as possible and then hold on to them for as long as possible, even if that means fighting for every inch.

The last of the three game types is Team Deathmatch, and here, "Elder Scrolls Online" players only need to worry about slaying players on the opposing teams.

There will be three arenas – Ald Carac, Foyada Quarry and Ularra – for players to choose from when participating in a particular "Battlegrounds" mode. There are also new rewards and achievements waiting for players who are able to consistently succeed in this additional PvP offering.

Players interested in seeing all that the "Battlegrounds" mode has to offer can do so once the "Morrowind" expansion is officially released for "The Elder Scrolls Online" on June 6.
