'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' News And Updates: Listing Points To Mod Support On Nintendo Switch
"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is arguably one of the most popular games released in recent history. And with the Nintendo Switch set for a March release, fans are wondering if the special edition of the game will include mod support for the console. If a recent listing is to be believed, then the chances of that happening are high.
Informed Pixel was able to spot the listing from Best Buy Canada. According to the listing, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition will have mod support on the Nintendo Switch, in addition to all the downloadable contents of the game, in one neat bundle. Unfortunately, Bethesda has not even announced such a compatibility.
The report obviously picked up some steam and spiraled out of control. It sparked a lot of rumors and talks that immediately circulated online. Judging by the retailer's response, though, it looks like the attention was just too much. Best Buy Canada has since removed the listing from their website.
"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition has been said to have better graphics compared to its six-year-old standard version. It is also believed that it will arrive on the Nintendo Switch, a highly anticipated hybrid console from the Japanese gaming company. The Nintendo Switch has been receiving a lot of media attention as of late, especially due to its groundbreaking feature of being both a home console and a portable gaming device. Nintendo revealed more details about the Switch this month, but it is not set to arrive in store shelves until March.
However, as GameRant posited, the Nintendo Switch is not really ideal when it comes to mod support. Sure, mods are becoming more of a staple in the gaming industry now more than ever, but the Switch is perhaps not the best console for the feature. The publication notes that Nintendo's upcoming console only has 32 GB of internal memory, which means expandable storage is needed to utilize mods. This may sound like no big deal for those who are more than willing to buy external memory, but others may not be too keen on the idea.
Since everything is still up in the air right now, though, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt.
