'The Fast and the Furious 8' update: New trilogy to end the franchise
The film will be called "Fast 8," which follows the previous movies. This fact was confirmed by actor Vin Diesel. The film could see the return of Eva Mendez and introduce Brian's brother who will be played by Cody Walker, Paul's real-life brother.
The movie will also see the return of Jason Statham's villainous character Deckard Shaw, as he terrorizes Dominic once again. Dwayne Johnson's character Hobbs will also be back. The actor said that he was interested in doing a Hobbs solo movie and that he is talking to the executives about it.
Actress Helen Mirren mentioned that she would love to be a part of the next film since she does her own driving and she did some laps in "Top Gear" before. Diesel echoed the sentiment in agreement as he said that there are plenty of options for her like Nathalie Emmanuel's mother and the matriarch of the Shaw clan.

The film might also see the return of Lucas Black's character Sean Boswell. Black could potentially replace Walker's character Brian as Dominic's right-hand man. The movie's core cast of Michelle Rodriguez, Tyreese Gibson, and Ludacris will also most likely return.
The film might be directed once again by Justin Lin, although this remains unconfirmed, and there is a rumor that this will be the last installment in the franchise. The film will take place in New York. The plot of the movie will follow Dominic and the gang as they go on another journey chasing cars in the streets of New York.
Actor Vin Diesel promised one last trilogy that will officially end the franchise. He made the announcement on his Facebook page. He also mentioned the search for a director for the movie. He said that the franchise is too special for just anyone.
Actress Michelle Rodriguez, who plays the role of Letty in the movie, also spoke about the film. She said that the film has helped the cast move on from the death of Paul and that this film needs a really good director. Diesel added that this movie is fate since Paul had always predicted that there would be another movie.
Producer Neal H. Moritz spoke about continuing without Paul and the challenges that it presents. "We're trying to do what we always do, which is try to come at it from a character point of view and figure out where the characters would go from here. I think the thing that's made The Fast and the Furious special is obviously we have incredible action and so on," he said. He added that Paul's character has moved on and that they are really talking about the characters and where they are.
"Fast 8" will hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
