'The Fate of the Furious' Release Date, News: Dom May Have Been Forced to Betray His Family

The upcoming installment of "The Fast and The Furious" franchise, "The Fate of the Furious," has revealed that it plays along the theme of family betrayal. In the latest teaser, however, the plot thickens as it appears Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) is forced to turn against his crew.

In a tweet posted on the franchise's official account, Cipher (Charlize Theron) tells Dom, "I think I need to remind you why you chose to do this." To this seemingly threatening statement, Dom replies, "I got no choice!" This gives a hint that he's being blackmailed to do Cipher's bidding, but what is her hold on Dom, if any?

Some fans think that Cipher has threatened to kill his family, which includes Mia (Jordana Brewster). There are others, however, who think that the twists and turns go further deeper, such that Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) may actually be connected to Cipher as well. If anything, it has certainly caught the attention and fancy of many franchise fans.

That's not the only teaser the movie has in store for the fans. Empire has also caught a glimpse of the film's latest poster, and it is nothing short of spectacular. It looks like the stakes are higher than usual as the battle is no longer confined within roads, but rather goes as far as the arctic where a submarine comes into play.

If the movie's goal is to keep fans interested, it is obviously doing a swell job with it. Audiences are speculating and talking about what's in store for the eighth installment of the saga. Moreover, Rotten Tomatoes has recorded a whopping 97 percent of people saying that they are highly anticipating the movie's release.

Fans will have to wait just a little longer, as "The Fate of the Furious" is set to burn rubber once more on April 14, 2017.
