'The Flash' season 2: Is Harrison Wells alive?
Season 1 featured the first Reverse-Flash. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) had to ultimately go on a face-off against his main enemy, which turned out to be his mentor, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Apparently, it was explained that Eobard Thawne disguised as the professor and traveled back in time to take revenge on the Flash. However, Thawne was defeated by his great grandfather, Eddie, who shot himself and made the move to completely eradicate Thawne from history. Many fans know his death would leave significant changes in the story, and they wonder if the show would address some hanging questions.
Among these changes include the fact that the real Dr. Wells will return. Apparently, according to Screen Rant, it is the case as Gabrielle Stanton, executive producer of the show, confirmed the return of the professor. "Harrison Wells will be back, but he's going to be a very different Harrison Wells than we've seen before… We've got other worlds. We've got other timelines. All I'm going to say is he's from one of those places." If this is indeed true, does this mean another time travel for Dr. Wells' character?
Another question that surfaced after the defeat of the Reverse-Flash is will the real Dr. Wells also cause the same explosion? It is already confirmed that Meta-Humans will continue to exist in season 2, and Barry would still be the Flash, so it means the explosion in the S.T.A.R. Labs with the fake Dr. Wells would still have occurred even now that the original doctor is in charge. It has been mentioned many times by Thawne when he was still disguised as the genius doctor that all events that led to him being the Flash would still happen, he just sped up the process.
Whichever way the show will choose to introduce the original Dr. Wells, it should be fluid enough to not cause further confusion to the timeline.
Fans can catch the premiere of The Flash season 2 on Oct. 6, Tuesday, 8 p.m./7 central on The CW.
