'The Flash' Season 2 to Feature Return of the Reverse-Flash

"The Flash" season 2 is set to feature the unexpected return of the Reverse-Flash who already died in season 1.

In an interesting twist of events, the Reverse-Flash will come back as the original Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher) in "The Flash" season 2 episode 11. It can be remembered that the character was trapped in Earth-1 Harrison Wells' (Tom Cavanagh) body but was killed by Eddie in the first season, according to Carter Matt.

In the past, Eobard's purpose for traveling back in time was to kill Barry Allen's (Grant Justin) mother. He then absorbed Wells' DNA and pretended to be him so that he could train Barry using his new powers, the Movie Web reports.

The upcoming episode, titled "The Reverse-Flash Returns," will show how the character's comeback will put a S.T.A.R. Labs team member in danger, the report adds.

"His impossible return to Central City puts a member of the S.T.A.R. Labs team in unexpected danger, forcing Barry to make a life-changing decision," executive producer Todd Helbing told Entertainment Weekly in an interview.

While the details on how the Reverse-Flash was able to come back from the dead still remain murky, what is known is that he will be a worthy opponent for Barry. There are speculations that he could return as the Eobard's Earth-2 version, the report relays.

Another question that still remains unanswered is whether the Reverse-Flash will appear in other episodes or only in episode 11, the report adds.

Other characters who will return for the second half of season 2 are Adam Stafford as Geomancer and Marco Grazzini who plays the villain Tar Pit. More details will also be revealed about Keiyan Lonsdale's character Wally West. Based on the comics, Wally will become "Kid Flash," but it is not yet known if this will happen in season 2.

"The Flash" season 2 will come back to feature new episodes on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 on The CW.
