'The Flash' Season 3 Spoilers News: Barry Takes Wally's Place?
Barry (Grant Gustin) is willing to save Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) even if it means taking his place in the Speed Force and this is what exactly what he plans to do in the new episode of "The Flash" season 3.
Titled "Into the Speed Force," episode 16 will see The Flash race into the Speed Force for the second time with the help of Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp).
Speaking about the Flash of two worlds' journey in the episode in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said Barry is willing to "risk everything" to save Wally.
"Barry was so busy trying to save Iris he didn't realize it was Wally he should have been protecting," the EP said, adding that this will lead to Barry to be the prisoner of the Speed Force himself.
"So the question in that episode becomes: Is Barry going to sacrifice himself for Wally, and how are they going to get Wally out?" Kreisberg mused.
Gustin answers that in the same interview, saying that The Flash is willing to "make the ultimate sacrifice when he enters the Speed Force."
"Barry is willing and wants to stay and replace Wally in the Speed Force forever. He thinks it's what he deserves, to spend the rest of eternity in the Speed Force," he went on to say.
"The Flash" season 3, episode 16 will see him experience the Speed Force again by seeing people from his past — from Eddie (Rick Cosnett) to Ronnie (Robbie Amell) and even Snart (Wentworth Miller). The Speed Force will also take the form of Iris (Candice Patton) and Joe (Jesse Lee Martin).
The promotional photos show The Flash without the insignia on his chest as he interacts with these people. It remains to be seen what this means though.
"The Flash" season 3, episode 16, "Into the Speed Force," airs today, March 14, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
