'The Flash' Season 4 Episode 2 Spoilers: Barry Takes His New Suit for a Spin, Goes to Couples Therapy With Iris

Barry (Grant Gustin) will officially be back in action in next week's episode of "The Flash" season 2 titled "Mixed Signals."

The team behind the series has promised a lighter tone this season and it looks like they are kicking it off with the next installment, whose promo comes with the show's light-hearted humor that it lost in the previous season.

In "The Flash" season 4, episode 2 teaser, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) reveals he built a new suit with tons of tech upgrades. While Barry got to take it for a spin in the premiere, it is this installment that he will learn more about what it can do.

The tweaks include a "self-preparing armor, nano-liquid circuitry, full-spectrum scanner and a whole bunch of other big words" that will ultimately help The Flash fight metas more efficiently.

There is so much of it that Cisco needed to put it all in the instruction manual. However, it looks like despite having speed-reading abilities, Barry decides to put off scanning it and goes to the field with the suit in "The Flash" season 4, episode 2.

When it started to do all sorts of things that he was not prepared for including a life raft that blows up the suit, which Cisco believes (at least before) will help when Barry runs on water, he freaks out.

This is the last thing Team Flash would want especially since they are dealing with a dangerous metahuman who can control technology. It will be interesting to see if he or she managed to hack into the tech used on Barry's suit.

As all this happens in "The Flash" season 4, episode 2, he will also have to confront the problems he has in his personal life, including the consequences of leaving Iris (Candice Patton) for six months, which no technologically advanced suit can solve.

This ends up with the two going to couples therapy, a huge challenge for Barry especially with a tech-controlling metahuman on the loose. However, he is not the only one dealing with the work interfering with relationships stuff.

"The Flash" season 4, episode 2 will also see Cisco contend with the same problems with Gypsy (Jessica Camacho), who breaches in for a date but are kept interrupted because of his work.

"The Flash" season 4, episode 2, "Mixed Signals," airs Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
