'The Fosters' Season 4B Release Date and Plot Spoilers: What Will Happen to the Complicated Brandon-Cortney, Mariana-Nick & Callie-AJ Romantic Relationships?
The chaotic summer finale of "The Fosters" Season 4 tied some loose ends and left with several life-changing cliffhangers. What will happen to the respective relationship drama of Brandon (David Lambert), Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) and Callie (Maia Mitchell) when the hit Freeform series returns next year?
An Ugly Breakup for Brandon & Cortney?
The past episodes of the fourth season of the LGBT-themed family drama featured the complicated relationship of Brandon and Cortney (Denyse Tontz). While auditioning for Julliard, Brandon decided to pen a breakup letter for Cortney in order to focus on achieving his dreams.
However, Brandon's longtime dream of Julliard crumbled after the discovery of his SAT cheating scandal. The upcoming episodes will see how Cortney will react to the letter and if the eldest Adams-Foster child will lose his girlfriend alongside with his Julliard dream.
Executive producer Peter Paige told TVLine that the Episode 11 of the fourth season will clarify the status of the Brandon-Cortney love story. He did not spill details about the relationship drama but he hinted that Brandon will pay the consequences of the choices he made.
Mariana's Disturbing Relationship with Nick
Aside from her drug addiction and school problems, the summer finale showcased Mariana's struggle to deal with her creepy ex-boyfriend Nick (Louis Hunter). She was also confused and upset after she discovered that her on-and-off boyfriend Mat (Jordan Rodrigues) got into the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
The final scenes of the summer finale saw Mariana's twin brother Jesus (Noah Centineo) collapsing after Nick landed a solid punch on his face. The second half of the season will reveal the consequences that Nick has to face after putting Jesus' life in great danger.
According to Paige, there is a big possibility that Mariana and Mat's relationship will survive amid Nick's creepy return. He said that the couple is a great pair. He stressed that the show is only depicting the fun and challenges of being in a relationship.
Callie & AJ Drifted Apart
The midseason ender also saw AJ (Tom Williamson) breaking up with Callie. The couple had a jealousy-fueled argument due to Callie's close bond with Aaron (Elliot Fletcher). Paige said that just like Mariana and Mat, AJ and Callie will have a shot of saving their relationship in the upcoming episodes of the fourth season.
Per Premiere Date, Freeform is yet to confirm the premiere of "The Fosters" Season 4B. The website projected that the 10 remaining episodes will start airing in the New Year just like the show's previous seasons.
