'The Fosters' Season 5 Spoilers: Nick Is Back in Mariana's Life
Mariana's (Cierra Ramirez) crazy ex-boyfriend Nick (Louis Hunter) will be back with a vengeance in the second half of the current season of "The Fosters."
Executive producer Joanna Johnson recently spoke about the summer finale cliffhanger where Mariana received a text from an unknown number. Later on, it was revealed that the sender was Nick and that he had important information about the Anchor Beach Charter School.
Fans of the series know Nick as Mariana's former flame who turned into a stalker when she decided to break up with him. He was also sent to prison after holding several school kids hostage because he wanted Mariana to return to him. Johnson teased that Mariana would have a tough time deciding whether to trust Nick again.

"That's the question: Is he manipulating her? Is he just trying to find a way to get her back in his life? And what lessons has Mariana learned about when you have a stalker in life who's baiting you? Do you take the bait or not?" the EP teased in an interview with TVLine.
There is also a sweet moment with Mariana and Mat (Jordan Rodrigues) when they danced during the prom. Johnson hinted of the possibility that the ex-couple might get back together, and many fans would be happy to see her back in Mat's arms again. After her messy break-up with Nick, Mariana has remained single. The EP said that they might be planning on having a love interest for her in season 5B.
As for the threat that AJ (Tom Williamson) may bring to Aaron (Elliot Fletcher) and Callie's (Maia Mitchell) relationship, Johnson said that Aaron should not be too worried.
"Callie's serious about Aaron, and though she has history with AJ, history is sometimes best left in the past. But we'll see," the showrunner said.
Fans of the series will have a long wait ahead of them before they see the next episode. According to CarterMatt, episode 10 will probably air in January. The cast and crew are reportedly busy with the production of season 5B, which is rumored to return in 2018.
