'The Girl on the Train' movie wants to cast Chris Evans and Jared Leto

Another novel-based movie is coming to town and it's all about the popular drama-thriller by British author Paula Hawkins, "The Girl on the Train." The runaway bestseller of Hawkins was just released earlier this year but Hollywood is already working on bringing the characters of the story to life. In fact, the first batch of casting announcements has already been made and it has unsurprisingly placed big names from the showbiz industry.

According to BBC News, the literal "Girl on the Train" will be played by none other than Emily Blunt. She will take on the role of Rachel Watson, the main character in the novel, and is described as an alcoholic divorcee who spends her commuting time fantasizing about a seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train regularly passes by. One day, she sees something shocking happen and that's when her life starts to get involved in a mystery that she never thought would happen.

Other female lead roles have been casted already and joining Blunt in the cast list is Rebecca Ferguson, female lead in "Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation," who will play the role of Anna, and Haley Bennett from "The Equalizer." Bennett will be playing the woman who goes missing in the first part of the story. The latest update on the movie's progress involves the stars that will be playing the male roles.

According to Variety, DreamWorks is eyeing on getting Chris Evans and Jared Leto. The source indicated that the negotiations are still ongoing and schedules as well as finances are still being arranged. Evans is set to take on the role of Tom, who is Rachel's ex-husband. He left her to marry Anna, which really devastated Rachel. On the other hand, Leto will play the male half of the seemingly perfect couple along with Bennett.

The movie will be directed by Tate Taylor and will work alongside producer Marc Platt and executive producer Jared LeBoff.
