'The Good Doctor' Season 1 Episode 4 Spoilers: Shaun Relives Painful Memories of Dead Brother in Young Patient

A new episode of "The Good Doctor" on ABC will find Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) reliving painful memories. The fourth episode of season 1, titled "Point Three Percent," will feature a young patient who looks so much like his dead brother Steve.

Shaun will bond with this young patient in "The Good Doctor" season 1 episode 4, which airs on Monday, Oct. 23. The boy will make attempts to crack a joke while waiting to get scanned and Shaun will try to tell a joke himself.

The two will also discuss autism as Shaun will tell his patient he has the condition. The boy will tell his doctor he used to know someone with autism as well, who apparently died. This will trigger more memories about Steve.

Shaun's new patient has no idea his parents kept his real condition from him. It will make it difficult for the good doctor to understand what the parents did. Highmore and the show's producers and writers sought specialists so he can play a doctor with autism effectively.

"[We] try to create Shaun as an individual character that's compelling, interesting and unique and celebrating his difference," the actor revealed.

Meanwhile, the rest of the medical team will race against time to find a cure for a patient with severe allergies. They have to know what's causing it as well before another patient becomes a victim.

The medical drama has been raking high viewership since its September series debut and after three episodes. It has beaten the ratings of "The Big Bang Theory" season 11 on Monday nights in the last week.

"The Good Doctor" also stars Antonia Thomas (Dr. Claire Browne), Nicholas Gonzalez (Dr. Neil Melendez), Chuku Modu (Dr. Jared Kalu), Beau Garrett (Jessica Preston), Hill Harper (Dr. Marcus Andrews), Richard Schiff (Dr. Aaron Glassman) and Tamlyn Tomita (Allegra Aoki). The show is based on a Korean drama series of the same title. The medical series airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
