'Tis the season for new shows and NBC has its share of new series and shows as well. "The Good Place" will debut this fall with a cast of veteran comedians and fresh new faces. The new comedy series stars Kristen Bell from "Veronica Mars" and Ted Danson from "Cheers" among others.
Will "The Good Place'" fare well against other shows that are known to rule primetime such as "Legends of Tomorrow" from CW and Grey's Anatomy from ABC?
"The Good Place" plot and cast
Created by Michael Schur of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Parks and Recreation", "The Good Place" is all about the life, or the afterlife of Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell). When she was still alive, Eleanor was a selfish woman. She was accidentally struck and then killed by a trailer carrying products for erectile dysfunction. She wakes up and finds herself in "The Good Place".
Michael (Ted Danson) becomes Eleanor's mentor when they met each other. Michael tells Eleanor that she is at "The Good Place" because she was able to save innocent people from death row. Obviously, Michael thinks that she is someone else.
Eleanor is now stuck in a place where everyone is nice all the time. She is also undecided if she wants to stay at "The Good Place", or if she should she start looking for a way to get out and live the life she once had.
Also part of the cast are William Jackson Harper of "The Electric Company", Manny Jacinto, Jameela Jamil, and D'Arcy Carden of "Broad City".
Three episodes so far
"The Good Place" has lined up three episodes for next month—with the first one airing on September 19. The show will begin with a preview to showcase the cast, plot, and all other exciting information about the series.
Premiere date, air times, and competition
"The Good Place" will air every Thursday at 8:30 /7:30 pm on NBC. It premieres on September 19 with a special hour-long sneak peak presentation at 10 p.m.
This new NBC comedy series will be the only comedy on the time slot. Aside from "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Grey's Anatomy", it also rivals "Rosewood" on Fox and Thursday Night Football on CBS. "The Big Bang Theory" as well as "Life in Pieces" will return late September, which may affect the show's share of the market.
