"Archie is an Emmy-award winning dramatic actress, and rightly so," said Fox casting executive Sharon Klein in a statement. "Her work on 'The Good Wife' has been extraordinary, and the time has come for her to star in a project of her own. We couldn't be happier that it will be with us."

Show runners Robert and Michelle King also gave a statement about Panjabi's exit from the show and made an allusion to her signature style.

"Archie is an amazing actress who helped build Kalinda from the ground up as an enigmatic, powerful and sexy character," they said. "It's been a pleasure to write for her, and we'll be sad to see her go; but we still have her for the rest of season six, so let's not exhaust our goodbyes yet."

"We look forward to meeting all the wonderful new characters Archie brings to the screen. But either way, we're keeping the boots," the Kings added.

In other news, "Numb3rs" alum David Krumholtz will be joining the show as Josh, a top campaign specialist hired by Alicia's manager, according to TVLine. Described as "one part Hollywood and two parts political," he is said to be a master of negative campaigning.

As for the upcoming episode of "The Good Wife" which will air on Oct. 19, here is the official synopsis of episode 5 titled "Shiny Objects."

"Alicia and Dean face familiar foes in Elsbeth Tascioni and Rayna Hecht when they represent a fired female CEO in a sex discrimination suit. Meanwhile, the Florrick/Agos/Lockhart firm are in panic mode when a hacker seizes control of their files and threatens to delete them if a ransom demand isn't met," it read.

Watch "The Good Wife" on Sundays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
