'The Good Wife' Star Julianna Margulies Joins 'Dietland' on AMC, Talks Sexual Harassment Experience

Julianna Margulies returns to television over a year after her show "The Good Wife" ended. The actress joins the revenge fantasy drama "Dietland" on AMC.

The series is based on the novel that Sarai Walker wrote and published in 2015. Margulies' role is that of Kitty Montgomery, a magazine editor.

The Emmy-winning actress joins Joy Nash ("Twin Peaks"), who plays the central character, Plum Kettle. She's an advice columnist and a plus-size woman who is about to have weight-loss surgery. In her quest to lose weight, Kettle becomes entangled with a women guerilla group, "Jennifer." Her magazine editor, on the other hand, finds that her clout in the media needs to change as old rules are no longer applicable.

Marti Noxon ("UnREAL") will serve as showrunner for "Dietland." AMC ordered 10 episodes for a 2018 release.

"Juliana is diabolically talented and beautiful, which makes her perfect to play our Kitty," Noxon said about Margulies' casting. "I am genuinely honored to have the opportunity to work with her. She's a special human and a rare actor."

Margulies took a break from television when "The Good Wife" ended in 2016 after seven seasons. The actress expressed no desire to be on the spinoff series "The Good Fight" for a good reason.

"I declined because I thought it would be a disservice to those women and they will carry that torch," the actress revealed.

Meanwhile, Margulies disclosed in an interview with Extra that she experienced sexual harassment from Steven Seagal at 23-years-old. She revealed how she talked herself out of a bad situation with Seagal in his hotel room, while he had his gun. Margulies said that while the experience did not leave her physically harmed, she was emotionally shattered.

She also had a bad experience with disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who asked her for a meeting in his hotel room. She went up with a companion, which did not please the producer. She ended up not getting the part but Margulies had no regrets.
