The Handmaid's Tale Season 2 Plot Spoilers: Mysteries Will Be Answered in Season 2
Expect to get the answers for some of the questions left hanging when the critically-acclaimed Hulu adaptation of "The Handmaid's Tale" returns for season 2.
On the red carpet of the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, the show's award-winning writer Bruce Miller told TV Guide that Margaret Atwood's novel where the TV series was based from had a lot of loose ends.
According to Miller, the ending of the book was quite frustrating. "When I read it, I was really frustrated, so it's nice to kind of answer some of those questions and go on. Lizzie [Moss] was surprised where we went, so that's a good sign," the writer stated.
Actress Samira Wiley also mentioned that one of the things that will be discussed in the upcoming season is the place called the "colonies" that had been mentioned but was never featured in the show's first season.
Wiley revealed that the colonies where women were sent to die is filled with toxic wastes, and the story will head there next season.
In another interview with People, actress Amanda Brugel revealed that there are a lot of things to look forward to in her character Rita when the show returns for its sophomore installment. While she cannot divulge any information about the plot for season 2, she confirmed that the book's author will still be involved in the story development next season.
"It's her baby, and this is her chance to sort of revisit these characters almost 30 years later, and give them new legs and life, the actress who was recently promoted to series regular stated. "I can imagine she's been sitting with them for quite some time, so now having the opportunity to allow them to go beyond the book is exciting for her as much as it is exciting for us."
Hulu has yet to announce the official release date of "The Handmaid's Tale" season 2.
