'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 2 Spoilers, News: Elisabeth Moss Bringing Fans on Hulu Set
"The Handmaid's Tale" star Elisabeth Moss is bringing fans on the set of the Hulu series. The show is mounting a fund-raising effort to benefit Planned Parenthood.
Moss invited fans to donate to the show's cause for as little as $10, which will earn them a slot for a trip to the set. Donations above $2,000, however, will have fans getting a poster or signed copy of the book, "The Handmaid's Tale," by Margaret Atwood.
"I know Gilead can look a little intense on the show, but don't worry, this experience will be nothing like that," Moss told fans in her video invite. "We're not gonna tear you away from your loved ones or kidnap you in the dead of the night, just free flights and a nice hotel for you and a friend. A consenting friend."
"The Handmaid's Tale" season 2, which will be back on Hulu in 2018, will run a story that book readers also have no clue about. The previous season ended a similar way as the source material, so the upcoming stories will be fresh for readers and viewers alike.
Showrunner Bruce Miller said that they consulted with Atwood for the second season's projection. Fans might expect Moira (Samira Wiley) and Luke (O-T Fagbenle) to rescue June/Offred (Moss) right away but things will become more complicated in this new world.
The main theme for "The Handmaid's Tale" season 2 will revolve around motherhood with June's pregnancy but whether or she's in a safer place away from the Waterfords remains to be seen. Season 2 will also show the Colonies for the first time. Could June be actually staying there?
Meanwhile, subscriptions to Hulu have gone up since "The Handmaid's Tale" won as Outstanding Drama series and nine other awards at the Emmys. The service, which is available in the U.S. and Japan only, had 47 million subscribers in the American market. That number reportedly rose to 52 million in the last few weeks.
