'The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2' spoilers: Trailer teases a major character death
The second part of the highly anticipated movie "The Hunger Games Mockingjay" will be in theaters very soon. The upcoming movie is the final installment of the beloved Hunger Games franchise that is based on the books of the same name by Suzanne Collins.
The upcoming movie will be markedly different from the first movie, according to director Francis Lawrence. "It's thematically very different. ['Mockingjay - Part 1'] was about the manipulation of media and propaganda, and this one is a real war movie. Very quickly, we're getting out from the confines of District 13 and back out into the rest of Panem, including the Capitol. It's a very different kind of landscape," the director said.
If the riveting action-packed full-length trailer is any indication, fans are going to thoroughly enjoy the upcoming movie. The previous movie was much simpler as it focused on the setup of the war, featuring propaganda and fake fights. However, this time around, the war is actually happening as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) brings the fight directly to the evil President Snow's (Donald Sutherland) front door.
A new trailer for the movie has spoiled a major event; the death of a major character. And whose death is it? It's Katniss' little sister Prim. The montage is full of sweet touching moments between the sisters and the text insert reads, "This November, her sacrifice is the ultimate tribute." So how does the young one die? Well, fans will not know until the movie premieres.
Actor Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta Mellark, caused quite a stir when he hinted at the possibility of more Hunger Games movies to Conan O'Brien during the recent Comic Convention in San Diego. However, he later retracted the statements saying, "Yeah, I mean the truth is I don't know anything. I would like there to be more because they're really fun to make, and it's a fun character, but... afraid that I'm not clear on that one," the actor said.
He also added that should there be more, it should come naturally from Suzanne and not something created just to make movies. Hutcherson gave his own ideas on how the studio could possibly expand the Hunger Games universe through the time jump that happens in the book. So, obviously the possibility is there; however, fans will not know anything until after the movie premieres.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be seen in theaters on Nov. 20.
