'The Incredibles 2' update: script is three-quarters finished, according to writer Brad Bird

While a part two of the movie is a good enough reason to celebrate, fans of the superhero family now have more reasons to really make that party happen because "The Incredibles 2" just might come very soon especially with the current developments.

In an interview with Collider, Brad Bird, writer and director of the upcoming Pixar film, revealed the status of the movie. He said that with a story arc already on hand, he has been diligently working on the script. He started writing the script earlier this year. He then went on to say that he is "probably three-quarters through" already. With the help of his team, it probably won't be long until the whole thing will be done and ready for further developing. He also added that they are definitely enjoying the moment of weaving together a story that will perfectly suit the well-loved animated superhero movie.

With regards to the release date, there are no official details yet. But as noted in Cinema Blend, Pixar's schedule for 2017 is filled up already with movies like "The Good Dinosaur," "Finding Dory," "Toy Story 4" and "Coco." This probably means that the movie will be making its comeback at some time after that point. Specifics are vague but Bird did have something to say about the flexibility of scheduling release dates.

He shares with Collider what happened in the case of the first Incredibles movie and the first Cars movie. He says, "In terms of the release date, we were originally—Incredibles was supposed to happen after Cars, and our wheels just happened to click a little earlier so they moved us up. Release dates are a little fluid when you're making films so far in advance."

He also added to say that he is working as fast as he can together with his small team. The plot details are also unrevealed but Bird said that fans can expect the movie to still have the element of family into it which makes it special as a superhero movie. They will still focus on the area of the film which was more than just fighting crimes and evil—it was about the characters and their relationship to one another.

"The Incredibles" came out in 2004 making it more than a decade old already. The plan for a sequel came too long but fans who have greatly loved the first movie are still going to wait for it.
