'The Last of Us 2' News: Is Joel Going to Die?
Since the announcement that survival horror video game "The Last of Us" will have a sequel, video gamers have been looking forward to the release of "The Last of Us 2." Developed by Naughty Dog, the 2013 game is set to get its sequel before long and fans are now anxious to know how events in the second game will unfold after the first game.
During a "The Last of Us 2" panel discussion at PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2016, the developers of the game revealed that the upcoming game will pick up five years after the final events in the original game. Also, director Neil Druckmann hinted during the discussion that "The Last of Us 2" will be all about hate.
As of this writing, the plot of the sequel remains unclear and nobody knows who the main character will be. While the focus of the new game remains to be seen, there are speculations that one of the main characters from the previous game, Joel, will die.
Speculations about Joel's death started to emerge since the release of the recent trailer, where Joel looks like an apparition. Fans of the game know that in "The Last of Us," Joel was usually covered in blood and his clothes were always soiled, but in the recent trailer for the upcoming game, he looks very clean. Also, fans noticed that the character has not aged since "The Last of Us" despite the significant time jump, and his appearance in the clip is very limited.
Because of Joel's strangely clean appearance in the scene where the bloody Ellie plans to murder the fireflies, fans speculate that he could be an apparition. There are speculations that he will murder himself in "The Last of Us 2" since the trailer shows him carrying a gun.
Whether Joel is dead or alive in the upcoming game remains to be seen, but fans seem to have pretty good reasons to assume his death. "The Last of Us 2" is still under development so fans have to wait until Naughty Dog announces an official release date for the highly anticipated game.
