'The Last Ship' Season 4 Episode 8 Spoilers: Crew Stumbles on Vellek's Dark Motives
Dr. Vellek's (Peter Weller) true plans are slowly being revealed in the current season of "The Last Ship."
Fans of the series will be getting a glimpse of the scientist's motives in his manic mission to secure the ancient palm seeds. The synopsis for the episode titled "Lazaretto," according to TV Guide, reveals that the crew of the USS Nathan James will launch an undercover mission to infiltrate Vellek's headquarters. In doing so, they will get bits and pieces of some disturbing information about the mad man. It has been previously teased that Vellek will stop at nothing to get his hands on the miracle seeds. His squad even chased the Navy through the worst of a storm just to steal the items.
The promo showed Sasha (Bridget Regan) and a female Navy personnel scouting the target building. Inside the compound, a number of men can be seen running and training. Whoever is supervising the whole thing looks very strict. It looks like Vellek is preparing an army of mercenaries in his bid to take over the world. Although the men appear cocky and deadly, there is no denying the fear in their eyes when they commit mistakes in the drills. Whatever Vellek is doing to discipline them seems to be working, and it is obvious that the men know very well who is holding the whip.

With both Chandler (Eric Dane) and Slattery (Adam Baldwin) taking over the helm of the Navy ship, it is expected that the Americans will do everything they can to stop Vellek from succeeding in his plans. It is obvious to the viewers, though, that Chandler is still uncomfortable with his situation. Some of his colleagues have expressed doubts on his loyalty to the Navy after his unexpected resignation in the show's previous installment. Slattery is doing his best to show support to the captain, but the others are proving to be too stubborn for their own good.
"The Last Ship" season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT.
