'The Last Ship' Season 4 Episode 9 Spoilers: Crew Talk Tactics to Overcome Biggest Threat Yet
Chandler (Eric Dane) and the crew of the USS Nathan James will face a threat that will test their mettle in the upcoming episode of "The Last Ship."
In the episode titled "Detect, Deceive, Destroy," the synopsis (according to TV Guide) revealed that a powerful enemy will shake the Navy to its very core. To overcome the threat, Chandler's men will need to rely on their tactics and strategies to remain alive and save humanity from extinction.
Through the course of the installment, the Navy has faced a lot of challenges. However, this one seems to be the worst of them all.

The promo released shows the difficulties that Chandler and the others will encounter. There was a scene that showed the captain on his knees with a gun pointed at his head. It looked like Dr. Vellek's (Peter Weller) men were able to board the ship and overpower the Americans. There was also the disturbing moment when an explosion almost ripped the Nathan James in half. Will this be the end of the crew's bid for freedom and salvation? Has Vellek finally succeeded in his mission to take over the world?
Last episode, the Navy tried to locate Vellek's ship by infiltrating Giorgio's (Jackson Rathbone) mansion. They managed to find the scientist's ship, but at the last minute, all hell broke loose. The mob boss' men found them and chased them off the island. Chandler's crew barely made it out of there alive.
One major shocker of the episode was the death of Fletcher (Jonathan Howard). He was killed by Vellek when it became apparent that he was turning his back on them.
The British agent was supposed to reach out to Chandler and help the Navy take down Vellek, but it was too late. The scientist realized what he was about to do and acted before Fletcher could do much damage. He has proven again that he would not hesitate to end a life as long as he gets what he wants in the end.
"The Last Ship" season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT.
