'The Last Ship' Season 5 Spoilers: Humanity to Watch the Rise of Latin America
The Latin American community is done staying in the shadows in the next season of "The Last Ship."
The trailer released for the new installment provides a glimpse of the type of enemy Chandler (Eric Dane) and the Navy will face. In the clip, a Latino leader is shown waging a war against the Americans months after humanity's successful fight against the Red Rust. The man is revealed to be creating an army of fanatics who are willing to die for the cause – to place the Latin American community on top of the food chain. The group's first move is to destroy the Navy's satellite.
Chandler is shown reporting the cyber attack to his superior. Soon after, explosion after explosion will rock an American event. The Navy is sure that all the assaults are all from the same source. When they trace the aggression in the doorstep of the Latino leader, the Americans will send in Sasha (Bridget Regan) to get more information. The promo shows her attending the same party as the man. When Sasha reveals what she knows about the incidents, the Latino is quick to shut her down.
According to the leader, it is funny that when groups other than the Americans make their presence known to the world, they are automatically called revolutionaries. Sasha tries to keep her cool, as the man is obviously baiting her. Clearly, the Navy will have their hands full dealing with the new foe. Meanwhile, Bridget recently revealed that there would be a time jump for season 5. The actual rehabilitation following the Red Rust's effect will no longer be covered in the new storyline.
"In Season 5 we again jump ahead quite a lot in time, as we did for Season 4, which I liked. It shows that the writers are only showing you the really exciting stuff that's happening in that world. The actual nuts and bolts of spreading the new healthy crop, feeding people... we skip ahead past that until we come up against our next big challenge," Regan said.
"The Last Ship" season 5 is expected to air next year on TNT.
