'The Leftovers' season 2 update: new poster & trailer released, family moves to Jarden
The HBO drama "The Leftovers" is making some buzz again after releasing the second trailer along with a new breathtaking poster to promote the upcoming sophomore season of the show. As seen on the trailer, leading man Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), paramour Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), his daughter Jill and a baby are driving their way to a new home to pursue a fresh start in their life, which most likely explains the tagline that read "Begin Again" as seen on the revamped key art.
From Mapleton, New York, they move to a new place called Jarden, Texas, which is deemed to be a special place because it had zero departures. It can be remembered that in the first season, a mysterious rapture-like event took place causing two percent of the world's population to vanish. A total of 140 million people disappeared without a trace. The sudden disappearance of the people and the struggles they went through urged Kevin and the others to pack their bags, move and forget about the bad memories.
According to IGN, the second season of "The Leftovers" will tell the story of two families - the Garveys and their new neightbors, the Murphys, a local family who believed that they have been spared from the mysterious event. While it may seem like the small town looked safe for them, there lies underneath it a fallout that is yet to be revealed. There's more to the town that will be explored including the drawing of guns, slamming against walls, fire, blood, dead bodies, and other more.
On the other hand, Kevin's ex-wife, Laurie Garvey (Amy Brenneman), has removed herself from the Guilty Remnant cult. She and her son Tom (Chris Zylka) are reunited.
Created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrota, the show will be adding new names to the cast including Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Jovan Adepo, reports Indie Wire.
More of Jarden, Texas will be revealed soon once "The Leftovers" returns on Oct. 4 on HBO.
