'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' Release Date, News: Is the DLC Worth Buying?
The arrival of the gaming hybrid Nintendo Switch has been made even more mouth-watering with the exclusive "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" being introduced as one of the games available upon launch. While it is a title that drew the attention of a lot of fans, the announcement of a downloadable content (DLC) drew mixed reactions.
In the game's official website, it was announced that an Expansion Pass, priced at $19.99, grants two new contents that are bound to be released within the year. Immediately after getting the pass, three chests will appear in the Great Plateau with a shirt designed with a Nintendo Switch logo as one of the prizes. The first DLC arrives in summer, while the second one is set for a holiday release.
This move of Nintendo was frowned at by most fans, but was defended by Nintendo's senior product marketing manager Bill Trinen. He explained that it gives players something to look forward to after playing the main game, and that there is more to see.
"We want people to be able to enjoy exploring this world, and so they started thinking about, 'Well, if we were going to do DLC, what would we do, how would we do it,'" Trinen explains. He also adds, "The goal is is let's give people the option to purchase it when they're at the store buying the game and give them something to look forward to, and kind of let them know there's more to come in this world."
The question now is if the DLC is worth getting. Perhaps knowing the content would help fans decide. The upcoming content adds more to how one can explore the world of the title, and provides challenge. If this is something that players would want to enjoy, then it will definitely be worth the $20 purchase.
"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" arrives on March 3, 2017.
