Details about the upcoming sequel of "The Lego Movie" revealed that a hit series could be taking a big part in the story.

The directors of the previous film Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be posing as the writers for the upcoming film. With that, it was reported that Rob Schrab will be taking on the role of director. Schrab himself hinted at the possibility of The Doctor's involvement in the new movie. However, he did not share much about what fans can expect from the character's involvement. With that, fans of the film and the series are wondering whether the series will be taking on a full role for the film similar to Batman's presence in the previous film. There is a chance that the role could just be a cameo like several "Star Wars" characters. In addition, there are no announcement regarding which doctor, or if all doctors, will be seen in the sequel.

This tie-up could be due to the recent release of "Doctor Who" characters in the "Lego Dimensions" video game. The video game includes several characters and elements of the series such as the Twelfth Doctor, Tardis, and K-9.

Meanwhile, details about the film's plotline have yet to be revealed. However, Miller and Lord recently shared a hint about what the upcoming sequel could explore during an interview with Empire Magazine. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, without giving out any spoilers, just hinted toward the time gap. They said, "We were really interested in what happens to that boy who's in the meta-story in the first movie when he's four years older. When he's an adolescent how does that change his point of view?"

"The Lego Movie Sequel" is expected to air in theaters next year May 18.
