Maze Runner Movie Release Date: Film Adaptation Premiere Date Coming September 19, 2014

The Maze Runner is the first book in a trilogy which will be adapted into a film set for a Sept. 19 premiere. The author of the trilogy is James Dashner, with the young-adult post-apocalyptic science fiction series to soon have a film trilogy.

The Maze Runner tells the story of a group of boys of varying age living in a dystopian society within a place called the Glade, situated in the middle of a sprawling and ever-changing maze. The book's premise is somewhat similar to William Goulding's "Lord of the Flies," where a group of young boys find a way to create and live in a society totally devoid of adults.

The story of the Maze Runner starts when a boy named Thomas arrives in the Glade in a sort of black box, with no memories of his past except only for his name. He later learns that new boys come once a month in the box, the same way Thomas arrived.

The boys living in the Glade call themselves the Gladers and Thomas finds out that despite the lack of adults, there is order. He also sees that all the boys have jobs to perform within the society like farming, butchering, and building living spaces. Even the least talented boys have jobs to perform.

The most important job in the Glade are the Runners, who go out into the maze and try to find a way out while enduring the perils of the monstrous constructs called the Grievers which roam the maze at night and kill anything they find.

Life in the Glade takes an abrupt turn for the worse when the black box delivers a girl instead of a boy. The Gladers later discover that she is the last to be sent through the box and that she has triggered the end.

Now, Thomas and his fellow Gladers must find a way out of the maze, even if it costs them their lives. Eventually, with the help of the map that previous runners have drawn out, they manage to find a way out and meet face to face with the Creators of the Maze and the Glade.
