'The Mentalist' Season 7 News: Simon Baker to Direct 2 Episodes in Upcoming Season
"The Mentalist" has been renewed for its seventh and final season, though CBS has not specified how many episodes will be in the series finale. The upcoming season is set to premiere sometime next year.
It is reported that Simon Baker and company have wrapped up filming the second episode, and are now getting on with the third.
Season 7 will see the debut of a new character, Michelle Vega, who will be played by "Make It or Break It" alum Josie Loren. Her character is described to be fresh out of the FBI academy and the newest addition to Patrick Jane's crew.
Meanwhile, Joe Adler has been promoted to series regular. Adler plays FBI computer expert Jason Wylie. Adler's character has appeared on a recurring basis on the show since its reboot halfway through season 5 when the Red John storyline was wrapped up, and the show's setting was moved from California to Texas.
In other news, Baker is slated to direct two episodes in the show's upcoming season. This won't be the first time that the actor will take the helm on the show, as he has previously directed a number of episodes on the series, which includes the re-pilot, "My Blue Heaven." On Season 7, he will be directing the seventh episode entitled "Silver Briefcase."
Five episode titles have been revealed, and in keeping with the color theme, the titles that have been announced are "Orange Blossom Ice Cream," "Nothing But Blue Skies," "The Greybar Hotel," "The Silver Briefcase," and "Pink Rocks".
"The Mentalist" Season 7 will premiere on CBS in early 2015.
