'The Mick' Season 2 Spoilers: Mickey Meets New Friend
Mickey Molng (Kaitlin Olson) will meet a new friend in the next episode of "The Mick" season 2.
According to the synopsis for the episode that was aptly titled "The Friend," Mickey will meet a troubled divorcee from Greenwich named Trish (Michaela Watkins), and the two will hit it off in an instant. However, her relationship with Alba (Carla Jimenez) will be put to a test.
On the other hand, Mickey will also start questioning her relationship with her fake boyfriend Jimmy (Scott MacArthur) after she introduced him to Trish to help with some home repairs. This could mean that Mickey will start thinking about making their faux relationship real this time.
In an interview with Variety, series creators John and Dave Chernin hinted that the dynamics between Mickey and Jimmy's relationship could be discussed deeper in "The Mick" season 2, especially since they will take a trip back to their hometown in Rhode Island for a special event where their old high school will retire Jimmy's baseball jersey.
"You'll find that Jimmy was a different person before he met Mickey, and they've been strong influences on each other, for better or worse. And then they're confronted with whether to make it official or not," Dave teased.
Aside from the complicated relationship between Mickey and Jimmy, the Chernins also hinted that they will still tackle the plot involving Chip Pemberton's (Thomas Barbusca) father. "We dropped the nugget for the audience at the end of season 1 that he's an illegitimate child, and so we deal with that in the first half of season 2," Dave also said. "A lot of it is the audience is the only one in on it, but at a certain point that news will land on Chip's doorstep, and he'll have to figure out who his real father is."
The second episode of "The Mick" season 2 will air on FOX on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 9 p.m. EDT.
