'The Mindy Project' season 4 spoilers: Mindy will get a new female friend; Frida Pinto and Joseph Gordon Levitt to guest star
Last season, "The Mindy Project" ended with a jaw-dropping cliff-hanger as fans saw Danny Castellano bravely fly all the way to India to introduce himself to Mindy's parents in a big romantic gesture.
In the new season, however, it seems that Mindy and Danny will stay together, albeit unmarried as Mindy's parents arrange her marriage. Fans will be seeing a string of potential husbands for her, despite the fact that she is still with Danny.
Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon Levitt will guest star in the season premiere of the show and he will play Mindy's husband in a "Sliding Doors" like alternate reality, where fans would get to see what her life would be like if she never met Danny.
Kunar Nayyar from "The Big Bang Theory" will also guest star in the upcoming season as Sendhil, a charming man from India who is a hedge fund manager that has been arranged to marry Mindy. This arranged marriage does not sit well with Mindy's boyfriend Danny and he will try to stop the wedding at all costs.
Actress Frieda Pinto is also set to guest star as herself in the new season and she will be dating Danny in the first episode as part of the alternate universe. Meanwhile, actress Brooke Burke will also guest star as herself in the first episode of the upcoming season, and former "Raising Hope" actor Garret Dillahunt will be taking Mindy's place in the clinic when she goes on maternity leave.
Fans will finally get to see Mindy's elusive parents in the new season as they attempt to find the best husband for their daughterm which points out that Danny's visit in the last season did not go as well as the fans hoped. Playing Mindy's parents, who are always mentioned in the series but never seen, are Sakina Jeffrey and Ajay Mehta.
The upcoming season will introduce a new female friend for Mindy who does not have a lot of female friends on the show. The last time fans saw Mindy with some female friends was way back in season 1.
Mindy will give birth in the second episode, and the producers said that even if the baby might not actually be seen all the time on the show, the child will play into several story lines throughout the season. The baby will definitely be the source of some issues and problems among the characters.
The season promises some interesting changes as seen in the promotional poster for the series. Mindy will be hands on in raising her baby while getting the fertility clinic up and running. She might actually marry Danny, despite all the so-called arranged marriages from her parents.
The show was canceled by Fox; however, it was picked up again for another two seasons by the video streaming site Hulu. The new season will air on Sept. 15.
