'The Originals' Season 2 News: Daniel Gillies Talks About Elijah Rumors, Episode 2 'Alive and Kicking' Recap
Elijah will find himself surrounded by new faces as the second season of "The Originals" unfolds, and rumors of him finding romance with Gia—one of Marcel's vampire pets—have started spreading as Hayley has started to change.
However, Daniel Gillies, who plays Elijah on the show, told TVLine in an interview that there is nothing going on between Gia and his character, and it's more like a mentor-student relationship rather than a romantic one for the two of them.
"There certainly isn't a romantic dynamic happening there," said Gillies to TVLine. "I don't want the fans jumping to that conclusion."
Gillies also mentioned that training Gia will serve as a distraction from Hayley's ongoing "identity crisis," which will continue to drive the brothers apart.
"Hayley has more sway over Elijah than Klaus does; if she tells him to back off, he'll listen," said Gillies. "As much as Elijah wants to honor this idea he's been striving for—the reunification of his family—at the moment, he really just wishes the woman peace."
It can be recalled that at the end of season 1, Hayley had to deal with a lot of things as she is now a hybrid, and moreover, her baby Hope was separated from her. In last Monday's episode of "The Originals" titled "Alive and Kicking," Klaus is persuading his brother that Hayley is not the same woman that he knows. But Elijah is determined to help her, so he asks Klaus for some help so she can rediscover her humanity.
Klaus takes Hayley to the swamp and gives her a lesson on tracking, which puts them in the path of Oliver and company. Now that she has become a hybrid, Hayley offers to become their leader. Oliver disagrees, and after making a lot of insults, Klaus gets angry and as he was about to attack, Hayley intervenes and stops him. Oliver then agrees to be her informant, and some of the wolves agree to let Hayley stay at the compound.
"The Originals" Season 2 airs on Mondays at 8/7c on The CW.
