'The Originals' season 3 plot news: Will Elijah and Hayley finally get together?
New details for the upcoming season of "The Originals" tease the possibility that Elijah and Hayley will pursue a romantic relationship.
Fans have been waiting for Elijah and Hayley to get together since the beginning of the series. With that, executive producer Julie Plec recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about what is in store for the two in the coming season.
Plec entertained the idea of the couple's relationship revealing that there is a possibility for it, despite Hayley's marriage to Jackson. It was stated that Hayley still has feelings for Elijah even though she is already married. She said, "There's always hope for Haylijah in the way that we planted the seeds for a relationship that clearly wants to happen. It's just blocked by a ridiculous amount of obstacles."

This will also pose as a struggle for Jackson and Hayley's marriage, which will be interesting to explore in the season to come. Plec added, "I wouldn't say they'll never get together, because I think they have and at some point, they will again. Now, it's really just a matter of how can Jackson and Hayley find happiness in their marriage when there is that silent elephant in the room."
It was also shared by co-executive producer Michael Narducci that Elijah will continue to admire Hayley from a distance, as reported by TV Line. Meanwhile, Klaus and Elijah will have trouble ahead when the new sired vampires arrive at New Orleans. It was reported that the new group were the first ones created by the Mikaelsons.
The upcoming season is expected to take place six months after the events of season 2. The premiere episode is titled "For the Next Millenium." The synopsis reads, "Months following their violent and deadly showdown with the powerful witch Dahlia, a rift continues to divide brothers Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies), while Freya (Riley Voelkel) searches for a way to heal their fractured bond and return their family to the way they once were."
The Originals season 3 will air on Oct. 3.
