'The Originals' Season 3 Spoilers: Who Will Go up Against the Mikaelsons?

The upcoming episode of "The Originals" will bring over a star from "The Vampire Diaries."

It was announced that Matt Donovan, played by Zach Roerig, will be making an appearance on "The Originals" in the upcoming episode of the series amd fans are excited to see another crossover between the two shows.

However, the executive producer of the two series Michael Narducci, explained that Donovan's involvement in the series is not merely a 'crossover.' As reported by TV Line, he said, "I really hesitate to call this episode a crossover. I would say it's an appearance — a special guest appearance — but I wouldn't call it a crossover and get fans believing we're doing some big epic thing. It's a small story, though we do get to see a pretty nice payoff to it."

He went on to explain that the two shows are actually a joint universe, which means that Mystic Falls is also a special place for the Mikaelsons because it is where Esther created vampires. Because of this, fans will see the Mikaelsons making their way to the hallowed grounds.

The most recent episode of the series saw two of the Mikaelsons heading over to Mystic Falls. With that, they will encounter Matt, where they will go head to head. With that, fans can expect to a lot of action and drama ahead. However, the executive producer reassured fans that Matt will fare well against the two Mikaelsons.

Narducci stated, "Matt's just a human, but he's brave, and I've always admired that about him. It's interesting to see Matt come face to face with this threat level that is so far greater than what he can reasonably deal with. Yet, without flinching, he stands his ground. That's something I've always admired."

"The Originals" airs on Fridays on The CW.
