'The Originals' Season 4: Picks Up Five Years Later; Is Klaus & Caroline Reunion on the Cards?
The upcoming fourth season of The CW's fantasy series "The Originals" picks up five years after the previous season ended when it returns on air this week.
The official synopsis for the premiere episode titled "Gather Up the Killers" reveals that the season will kick off on the fifth anniversary of Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) defeat. Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) has taken over the city and has even welcomed un-sired vampires to New Orleans. But what the self-appointed king does not expect is for his supposedly new subordinates to pose a threat to his rule. Who will he turn to for help at a time like this?
The trailer seems to tease that he'll have no other choice but the seek counsel from Klaus himself, the very vampire he had wrestled out of authority.
The episode will also feature Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) continuing attempt to find a cure that can revive Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and the rest of the slumbering Mikaelsons. But a final task may pose a hurdle to her quest when she is forced to make a ruthless decision in order to achieve her goals.
In the midst of all the threats looming over the lives of Klaus and the Mikaelsons, the recently concluded "The Vampire Diaries" offered fans a glimpse into a much brighter future, wherein Klaus made a generous donation to Caroline's (Candice King) boarding school for supernatural children. The donation came with a handwritten note from Klaus saying that he was looking forward to thanking Caroline in person someday, "however long it takes."
Will Klaus and Caroline be meeting on a better time at a better place and finally have a chance to be together? Alaric (Matt Davis) did say that Klaus' donation was the beginning of another story. Could this story be picked up in a later chapter of the "The Originals"?
The premiere episode of "The Originals" season 4 airs on Friday, March 17 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
