'The Predator' Casting News: Augusto Aguilar Cast in Film's Final Major Role
Augusto Aguilera has been cast in the final major role in 20th Century Fox's upcoming film reboot, "The Predator."
According to Deadline, Aguilera – known for his work in "Chasing Life," "Snowfall," and "Citizen Ice" – is the final piece of the alien-hunting cast which includes Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn and Keegan-Michael Key.
Supporting cast members of "The Predator" include "Chuck" star Yvonne Strahovski and "Game of Thrones" actor Alfie Allen.
Details of the upcoming movie's plot are being kept under wraps as well as major details about the characters. Although there are currently no details on who Aguilera will be playing, CinemaBlend reports that it is likely the actor will be portraying a military or soldier type of character who will be part of the high-stakes battle against the alien Predator. However, it is unclear if his character will survive until the very end of the movie.
Minor details about the characters of the other confirmed cast members of "The Predator" have also been revealed. Holbrook will be playing the main character Quinn Mackenna, a Special Forces Commando. Munn's role will be that of a scientist, while Rhodes will portray an ex-Marine and best friend of Mackenna.
Brown's character is a government agent who will imprison Mackenna early on but will soon come to rely on him to hunt down the Predator. Key will play a soldier working together with Rhodes and Holbrook. Meanwhile Tremblay will act the part of Mackenna's autistic son who holds the key to communicating with the alien.
"The Predator" is directed by Shane Black, who also co-wrote the movie's script with Fred Dekker. Although the film is not a reboot, it is set in the same timeline as the original 1987 movie which starred action star Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Black has revealed that the movie will be an R-rated film, and that it will be set in suburbia. He promised that the film will "reinvent" the audiences' preconceived notions about the film franchise.
"The Predator" is slated for release on Feb. 9, 2018. Production already began last month.
