'The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In' News: Gia Giudice Opens Up about Mom's Imprisonment
The eldest daughter of the Giudice family opened about the changes they had to overcome while their mother was in federal prison.
The previous episode of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Checks In" showed Gia Guidice talking about how having her mom in prison changed her. It was revealed that she had to take on more responsibilities since her mom was out in prison serving her yearlong sentence.
She explained, "Most 14-year-olds are not equipped to deal with the situation that I'm dealing with. No doubt about it, I wish my mom was here, but I know everything's going to be okay."
Gia was able to keep her grades high, remaining an honor student, while at the same time helping out the family with the tragic event that they are going through. She explained that she is staying true to her mom's words, which encourage her to stay strong to help their dad go through the challenges of Teresa's sentence.
It was revealed that Teresa's husband, Joe Guidice, had gone through many negative responses in the last couple of years. With that, he recently addressed these issues, as well as his sentiments toward his wife's imprisonment during an interview with E! Online. He explained that there is always a feeling of absence, despite the fact that he was still in contact with Teresa.
He said, "You're emailing, you're talking here and there, but it's not like she's here. I'm glad I was able to keep the girls together, and do what we have to do to get by until she [Teresa] gets home."
Meanwhile, Gia also acted as a role model to her younger sister. She had told Milania, "Just because mom isn't here, that doesn't mean you can act out."
However, the episode also saw Gia breaking down when she spoke to her mom on the phone. It was apparent that the eldest daughter was also struggling with not having her mom around. Teresa was heard comforting her with the words, "I've been thinking of you every minute, every second. I'm there in your heart."
