'The Sinner' Finale Spoilers: Is Cora Guilty or Not?
Cora's (Jessica Biel) fate will finally be revealed in the last episode of the current season of "The Sinner."
Though the synopsis (via TV Guide) does not reveal much on what will happen to the protagonist, fans of the USA Network series are in suspense waiting for the court's final verdict regarding Cora's crime. The episode will reveal if she will be found guilty of murdering Frankie (Eric Todd) as revenge for what happened to her sister.
In the previous episode, it was clear that she did it in a fit of anger. Phoebe (Nadia Alexander) died after she was intimate with Frankie, and though it was an accident, Cora was overcome with grief that she could not help herself.
It was revealed that Phoebe and Frankie met at the Beverwyck Club on the night of her 19th birthday. Later that evening, she had a heart failure. He tried to revive her but unintentionally snapped her rib cage instead.
When Cora found Frankie, she made sure that he died in the same way her sister did. Her memory loss after the deed was explained when it was shown that J.D. (Jacob Pitts) knocked her out with an ashtray. She has yet to fully recover her memory, and it has proven to be a setback she cannot afford to have while being interrogated in court.
Meanwhile, Bill Pullman, who plays Detective Ambrose on the series, recently told Rotten Tomatoes that they still have a few surprises in store for the viewers in the finale. He said that the story might not exactly follow the events that took place in Petra Hammesfahr's book on which the series is based.
"There are still things they get to be surprised by. The weight and value of things are different too. There are things that can take a long time in the book that don't so much in our story and vice versa. For one thing, the Ambrose character is not nearly as developed in the book as he is in the show. What he goes through in the last phase is more invented by Derek," Pullman said.
"The Sinner's" season finale will air on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network.
