When asked if Nora will never come back, Cuse said, "...sadly and unfortunately Nora is dead," adding that her death is a "significant departure from the novels on which the series is closely based." He clarified that killing Nora was very difficult for them, further explaining that Mia Maestro, who played Nora, was an amazing actress.

However, Cuse said getting her out of the picture was rather necessary to make the audience understand that "no one is safe." Citing ABC's "Lost," which was also spearheaded by Cuse," the showrunner said they had to kill some popular characters, and though it was very hard, they had to take the risk to give the viewers "a sense of danger and stakes."

Finally, he made it clear that Nora's death actually gave way to move Eph into the right spot where he needs to be for season 3 to work out. Hogan explained that following Nora's death, Eph will then do all he can to work on getting an "effective bioweapon" against the strigoi bacteria. The producer said Nora's death is very significant in pushing Eph to work hard on his goals and priorities.

Meanwhile, TV Line reported that Eph's son, Zack, might be in trouble as he falls into the hands of Kelly. Hogan described Zach in the upcoming season of "The Strain" as "a tear."

"The Strain" season 3 is scheduled to premiere in 2016.
