'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: 2 New Characters Added, Colin Ferguson and Gabrielle Walsh Hired as Season Regulars
"The Vampire Diaries" fans can look forward to meeting two brand new characters in season six this fall.
According to reports this week, The CW has hired both Colin Ferguson of "Eureka" and Gabrielle Walsh who appeared in the film "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones." The brand new sixth season will first meet Walsh's character Sarah in the season premiere. Sarah is described as having "spunk, street smarts and a shady agenda," reported Deadline.
Alternately, Ferguson's character is named Tripp. Tripp will "do anything to protect" Mystic Falls, and is also set to make his debut in the season six premiere, according to TVLine. Executive producer Julie Plec also added another detail about Tripp on Monday via Twitter.
"He's in town to give Sheriff Forbes a run for her money. #TVD," she wrote.
Meanwhile, fans are anxiously anticipating the return of "The Vampire Diaries" since the fate of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) hung in the balance at the end of season five. Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) both stepped in to the Other Side during the season closer, but Graham recently revealed that she will be back for season six.
"She is [back next season]," the actress said of her character, according to TVLine. "But I don't know in what form or for how long," Graham teasingly added before noting she was "just as shocked as the next person" at how season five ended.
"I've been on the show for five years, and I cried when I watched the finale," said the actress.
Alternately, Somerhalder recently caused a stir online when he hinted that Damon was dead in an Instagram post.
"Rest in Peace Damon Salvatore. #GameOver," Somherhalder wrote in a caption.
The photo featuring a tombstone with Damon written on it caused a stir online, but it is believed that the actor was simply teasing his fans.
"The Vampire Diaries" returns to The CW on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m EST.
