'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 news: Candice Accola expecting her first child

It was revealed that "The Vampire Diaries" star Candice Accola is expecting her first child.

The hit series' actress recently posted an Instagram photo with the caption "Sometimes a Saturday is best spent painting t-shirts and taking an awesome family photo. #ThatAintNoBurritoInMyBelly." The photo showed Accola with husband Joe King, guitarist of the band "The Fray," with a colorful shirt that said baby on her stomach.

The news made fans of The Vampire Diaries wonder how Accola's pregnancy will affect the series and her character, Caroline. However, Accola had hinted that Caroline could also experience pregnancy in the upcoming season. During the San Diego Comic-Con, Accola stated, "I think Caroline's going to grow significantly throughout this year in many ways — spiritually [and] physically." Her co-actor, and on-screen lover, also added on to the hint by stating, "We're going to be expecting …I think we can expect a whole new Caroline over this season."

If Caroline is actually pregnant, it will be interesting to see how the show continues since it is evident that vampires are unable to pro-create. With that, fans have been voicing out their opinion on the matter, expressing that they do not want the show to portray vampire pregnancy as shown in the movie "Twilight."
A fan from The Vampire Diaries wiki page commented, "On TVD it is impossible for vampires to reproduce. And I'm sooo glad that it is like that. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.. don't let any vampire have children. That'd be Twilight 2.0!"

Aside for a vampire baby, there were other theories on how the show will cope with Accola's pregnancy. The two simplest ways to move on would be to hide the bump during filming or even write her out of the script. However, the option of writing Caroline out of the story is highly unlikely as it was said that Caroline will be a main focus in season 7.

Nevertheless, fans will have to wait until Oct. 8 in order to see how The Vampire Diaries will turn out in the 7th season.
