'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 News, Rumors: Time Slot Change Due to Drop in Ratings
Fans were shocked at the recent changes for the CW series "The Vampire Diaries."
It was reported that the series suddenly changed its time slot to Friday, instead of the usual Thursday night showing. This was the first time that the series has been rescheduled ever since its first season.
It was said that this is due to the decreasing viewership for the series. The most previous episode of the season titled "Mommie Dearest" earned the title of lowest viewership of the series with 1.10 million viewers.
The recent season of "The Vampire Diaries" has been working hard to recover from the dramatic departure of its lead character Elena Gilbert, played by Nina Dobrev. They have been trying to maximize their ensemble cast to make up for the major loss. However, fans of the series are unhappy with the season, now that Dobrev is gone.
With that, along with the fans, even the cast of the series are hoping that Dobrev will return to the series. According to TV Insider, Paul Wesley, who plays the role of Stefan, shared his sentiments about Dobrev's exit. He said, "Elena's still a very big part of the story. Her body's in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up."
However, Dobrev seems certain that she will no longer be returning to the series. The actress has plans to take on other roles that will challenge her as an actor. She also mentioned that she is looking forward to work with other actors and directors that she has been wanting to work with for the longest time. With that, she also confirmed that she will no longer be present in the series from her Instagram post.
