'The Walking Dead' EP Teases Crossover With 'Fear the Walking Dead'

"The Walking Dead" and its spin-off series, "Fear the Walking Dead," are both successful in their own right, but a potential crossover will undoubtedly drive up ratings and fan excitement.

The idea of a crossover has been tossed around the "Walking Dead" fan base for quite a while now, but the creative minds behind the two shows have always maintained that it will not happen. However, executive producer Robert Kirkman sent fans into a frenzy when he confirmed that a crossover would occur.

"I'll say this: There are two 'Walking Dead' shows. One character is going to go from one show that I will not name and appear on another show that I will not name," Kirkman, who also created the comic books from which the shows are based, said. "We've finally gotten to a place [with 'Fear the Walking Dead'] where we can play with some things."

According to the same media outlet, the crossover episode is expected to air sometime next year. Of course, not a lot of details are known at this point. Regardless, fans are excited to see some of the two shows' characters meet and mingle.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to the premiere of "The Walking Dead" season 8. After spending much of season 7 beaten down, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is ready to take charge and fight back against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Accompanied by the other Alexandrian survivors, Ezekiel's (Khary Payton) Kingdom and the Hilltop Colony, Rick will take the war to the Saviors.

But with war comes death and, according to star Tom Payne, who plays Jesus, "no one is safe." The show has already killed off numerous characters, and some of them are fan favorites. With a bloodbath imminent, there is no stopping them from killing off many more beloved characters.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
